Modul academic expert

The Academic Expert Program (AE) offers a professionally oriented, modular education by MODUL University Vienna. The key features are the program’s inherent focus on the combination of professional and academic know-how and its flexibility in terms of major options for different target groups. While leveraging off MODUL’s more than 100 years of excellence in tourism and hospitality management education, the Academic Expert Program also provides a structural framework to accommodate thematic topics related to MODUL University’s research fields. Based on the unique research orientation of MODUL University’s departments, major options in sustainable development, international management and entrepreneurship and innovation as well as new media technology can be integrated.

TARGET GROUPS

As the main feature being the flexibility in both thematic focus and the modular setup, the Academic Expert is thus designed for professionals as well as students seeking either full-time or part-time study option with a clear focus on professional training. This means that all modules can also be offered as separate short courses. This flexible structure is of special interest for industry partners of various fields (hotels, hospitality operations, retailers, etc.). All modules can be offered as single courses thus allowing for targeted training programs for employers according to their respective HR strategies and training needs. An additional benefit is provided through the option to collect modules on a scorecard according to the overall scheme thus leading to the successful completion of the Academic Expert Program and the awarding of a certificate.

OVERVIEW AND PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The Academic Expert Program aims at the combination of academic and professional know-how within interactive, workshop and project-based formats. Blocking modules into orchestrated workshops and taking a blended learning approach, each class is additionally enhanced through self-study elements and assignments, as well as examinations. Lecturers and trainers are recruited with both academic and professional backgrounds linking state-of-the-art applied expertise and methodology with findings of latest research projects.

The Academic Expert in Hospitality Management (AEHM) provides aspiring managers in the field of hospitality management with a solid foundation in business administration and communication, hospitality operations, marketing and finance. The AEHM additionally provides students with the option to further specialize in different majors with an operations, marketing, or finance focus.

The Academic Expert in Hospitality Management (AEHM) program is modular university course program based on four pillars, namely A. Business Administration and Communication, B. Hospitality Operations, C. Marketing and D. Finance. All modules listed in the Hospitality Operations section (B) are practical training courses.

STRUCTURE AND DURATION

Within a minimum 2 terms in full- or part-time study option modules amounting to 45 ECTS points need to be completed from the core module section, being further enhanced by 12 ECTS points from a major modules section, and finished by 3 ECTS of final project work for the Full Academic Expert Program.

Single Course and Corporate Training Options: As one of the key features of the fully modularized program the flexible framework of the Academic Expert Program allows for single and bundle training options: All core and major courses can be offered as single trainings or as a collection of courses, e.g. major course bundles, for meeting specific training needs (corporate/in-house trainings, etc.).
